Kristy Seagren, MSW, LCSW

Kristy received her Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work in 2003, and also holds undergraduate degrees in both Psychology and Creative Arts in Therapy from Russell Sage College.

Kristy brings over 17 years of clinical experience to the practice, treating adolescents, adults, and couples. Her professional background includes providing school based, home based, and general outpatient psychotherapy.  Since residing in the Carolinas, Kristy has had the pleasure of working alongside many talented therapists and psychiatrists at both of the Charlotte areas major healthcare systems; Novant Health and Atrium Health; formerly Carolinas Healthcare System. She also has experience in eating disorder treatment with The Renfrew Center, the first in eating disorders. Kristy has provided treatment in the outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization levels of care in treating anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorders. 

It is Kristy’s collective work in the field that has prompted her to maintain her clinical focus on Women’s health and well-being. Ongoing clinical interests include Eating Disorders, Women’s health and Infertility, Perinatal Anxiety and Mood Disorders (pregnancy and postpartum), working with LGBTQ clients, and the treatment of Mood and Anxiety disorders in men, women, and teens.

Kristy utilizes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and strengths based perspectives in her practice, however considers herself fairly eclectic in creating a personalized approach to one’s individual treatment. Kristy believes in the social work perspectives of the therapeutic relationship being the foundation of treatment with a strong, healthy, therapeutic alliance at the core. With this focus of ongoing clinical work, Kristy brings commitment, dedication, and compassion to her clients; working together on a journey toward long term change and personal growth.  Kristy is often seen and heard using a direct and honest approach, implementing wit and humor in assisting patients navigate these difficult times in their lives.  This is most likely one of her most positive attributes.

In her free time, Kristy enjoys time with her husband, 4 children, and 2 dogs around the Lake Norman area. She considers the Carolinas her forever home after being born and raised a Bostonian.
